Paula Sobral was born in Sernancelhe, district of Viseu, Portugal.
she initiated her musical studies in the Conservatory of Music of Viseu,
where she studied guitar with Luis Lapa and Christopher Lyall who guided
her until the end of the complementary course. |

In 1994 she started studying Education of Music in the University of Aveiro, in the specific area of classic guitar, under the orientation of Paulo Vaz de Carvalho. After concluding this, she continued the study of the instrument with the Slovakian guitarist Jozef Zsapka. She conjugated the study of the guitar with the teaching activity in the Conservatory of Viseu. She participated in some master classes. She teached in the School of Music of the College of S. José (Guarda/Portugal) and in the Conservatory of Music of Seia. Currently she is on her way to finish master degree in Chamber Music in the University of Aveiro under the orientation of Prof. Fausto Neves and the Brazilian guitarist Odair Assad (member of the famous duo Assad). Since 1999, in set with Jose Carlos Sousa, she is artistic director of the International Competition of Classic Guitar of Sernancelhe (Concurso Internacional de Guitarra Clássica de Sernancelhe). She teaches in the Conservatory of Music of Viseu. |
